Monica Dayanand, MAOM, RYT, L.Ac. is licensed in the state of California, as well as in Texas, and is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and certified through the NCCAOM to practice acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, including herbal medicine.

Monica has always had a deep appreciation for the human body and its fascinating possibilities.  After her own mother was diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases in 2008 where western medicine alone failed to help, she became interested in exploring the world of natural complementary and adjunctive therapies. As the founder and owner of Natural Maternity & Pediatrics, she integrates her knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology with ancient holistic therapies to develop physical and mental strength, flexibility of body and mind, and optimal healing overall for those with whom she has the opportunity to work.

Having healthy pregnancies and healthy babies can be safely and effectively achieved through the regular use of Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities, including acupuncture, and yoga. Young children, especially infants, have extremely delicate systems and respond quickly and efficiently to a more natural approach. As a former elementary school teacher for many years, Monica provides a comfortable and non-threatening atmosphere for children of all ages.

On top of a month-long externship training in the gynecology and pediatric departments at the top TCM hospital in Tianjin, China, Monica has worked extensively shadowing pediatricians and midwives via her post-graduate doctorate program at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, where she currently specializes in the fields of pain management, women’s reproductive health, and pediatrics.

She also received her postpartum doula certification through Cornerstone Doula Trainings in San Francisco, CA, as well as her certification as an interdisciplinary yoga instructor from Nosara Yoga Institute while living in Costa Rica in 2011. In her free time, she enjoys teaching weekly yoga classes at Ojas Yoga Center in the East Bay, assisting prenatal yoga and birth workshops at Yoga Tree, and volunteering in the infant massage class at the Homeless Prenatal Program in San Francisco.

At Natural Maternity & Pediatrics, we believe that the right amount of resources, knowledge and support can foster stronger and healthier women and children, and therefore create a happier and healthier world altogether!
